Liam Payne’s devastated father Geoff has spent several days in Argentina following the tragic death of his son.

The 31-year-old singer tragically fell to his death on October 16, from his hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires, and an investigation is currently underway.

Officials have stated they aren’t seeking anyone else in relation to his death, but they are reportedly trying to trace who sold drugs – including pink cocaine – to Liam. Geoff flew to Argentina just hours after news of the One Direction star’s shocking death broke, beginning the heartwrenching process of repatriating their son’s body back to the UK.

It was reported that both Geoff and Liam’s mother Karen had left their Wolverhampton home to catch a flight to Buenos Aires, but so far, only Geoff has been spotted in the Argentine capital.

Upon landing in Buenos Aires on Friday morning, Geoff went directly to the Judicial Morgue, located at Viamonte 2151, to identify Liam’s body, as reported by Argentine news outlet Teleshow.

He then made a distressing visit to the prosecutor’s office to discuss details of the investigation into his son’s death, and Geoff later visited the CasaSur Hotel to view the tributes left by heartbroken fans. A large crowd had gathered around the grieving father, leading determined One Direction fans to form a barrier around Geoff for some privacy.

Geoff took a moment away from the heartrending tributes to his son and was spotted having tea in the hotel lobby. He then visited a shopping mall under police escort, arranged by the prosecutor’s office, and toured Buenos Aires to see the sights his son had enjoyed before his untimely death, reports the Mirror.

After this, he returned to his hotel and continued the lengthy process of repatriating Liam’s body back to the UK. Geoff was seen at the British Embassy completing the necessary paperwork for repatriation, though it remains unclear how long this will take.

It has been reported that Liam’s funeral is set for early next month, but the investigation into his death continues, with toxicology results not expected until December at the earliest. On Monday, Geoff met with prosecutor Andrés Madrea to discuss further details about his son’s death and was updated on the status of tests conducted on samples from the singer’s body.

Reports suggest that pink cocaine was found in Liam’s system at the time of his death, leading Geoff to return to the prosecutor’s office on Tuesday for a six-hour meeting.

Just hours after Geoff exited the prosecutor’s office, a fresh search was commanded to be executed in Liam’s hotel room, carried out by a squad of police officers. Liam’s father remains in Buenos Aires, with no clear indication of how long he will stay in Argentina as the investigation into his son’s heartbreaking demise persists.
