LIBERTY HILL, Texas — Liberty Hill ISD is set to open a new facility in November dedicated to special education students between the ages of 18 and 22.

The facility will be located behind the district’s administration building and has kitchens, a technology center, classroom spaces and other learning labs.

District leaders at the Oct. 21 board meeting said these renovations were needed because they’ve seen the program more than double in enrollment, from just 12 students to 26 over the past two years.

Students gain experience through local partnerships, including paid opportunities at H-E-B and skills training at Ascension Seton Northwest Hospital.

The renovations to the 13,359-square-foot building cost $5 million. The money came from the district bond approved by voters in 2023.

A ribbon-cutting for the new facility is scheduled for Nov. 21.
