(Gray News) – Walmart is launching a pharmacy delivery service.

Pharmacy Delivery by Walmart is currently offered in Arkansas, Missouri, New York, Nevada, South Carolina and Wisconsin. By the end of January 2025, the service is expected to be available in 49 states.

Walmart says the service provides families, seniors and those with chronic conditions a more convenient way to get their medications.

Customers will be able to add prescriptions along with other items from their local Walmart in a single order both on the app or online with Same-Day Scheduled Delivery or with On-Demand and Express Delivery, which is coming soon and will deliver the prescription in as soon as 30 minutes.

“If you’re sick, we can deliver the necessary medicine along with everything else you need to feel better: cough drops, a heating pad, blanket and orange juice. Walmart’s size, resources and expertise set it apart from other retailers,” said Tom Ward, executive vice president and chief eCommerce officer, at Walmart U.S.

To keep customers safe, the delivery of medication is compliant with HIPPA.

Pharmacy Delivery is available for both new prescriptions and medication refills.
