According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Aubrey was selected to a 12-person jury in a felony case.

DALLAS — The court calls on juror #17.

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who missed the team’s Wednesday practice due to jury duty, was selected to serve on a 12-person jury, according to WFAA’s content partners at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Aubrey and other jurors will hear the felony case, a second-degree strangulation charge in Tarrant County’s 297th District Court, but it’s unknown how long the case will last. According to the Star-Telegram, the Cowboys tried to pull the kicker away from jury duty, but Aubrey insisted on fulfilling his civic duty. Aubrey is expected to return to court on Thursday and Friday.

Juror information is not typically public, but according to the Star-Telegram, multiple eyewitnesses reported seeing Aubrey at the courthouse and serving on the jury.

If the Cowboys were to go without Aubrey for a time, it would certainly hurt their offense. Aubrey is one of the best kickers in the NFL and accounts for 60 points out of the Cowboys’ total 126 scored this season. Currently, Aubrey is far and away the team’s leading scorer by 48 total points.

However, according to the Star-Telegram, the judge will work with Aubrey’s football schedule.
