Slimmers try all manner of different diets in a bid to lose weight – but you don’t actually need to make any extreme changes to see results.

Cutting out food types and restricting yourself can be incredibly difficult to maintain. Instead, it’s better to make healthy and achievable lifestyle changes.

And one of these is staying in a calorie deficit. Personal trainer Lizzy High, known as lizbitesback to her 400,000 Instagram followers, said this is often more effective than gruelling exercises that promise you’ll burn belly fat.

Lizzy explained: “If you want to just lose belly fat and look slimmer you just need to be in a calorie deficit. Where you lose first is down to genetics. No special shake or 30 min ab blast will get you ripped.”

This approach will apparently make your abs “a lot more prominent”, and you’ll begin to see more definition.

Lizzy’s top tip for those looking to shed the pounds is to find a balance joy in eating. You can always find healthier alternatives to your favourite meals instead of avoiding them altogether.

People are grateful for the PT’s tip – with some even branding her a “queen”. Another gushed: “Love this example.” And a third simply said: “Thank you.”
