Richard Arnold, Good Morning Britain’s resident entertainment expert, revealed that his co-host Susanna Reid is due for a brief hiatus from her presenting duties.

On the show aired on Thursday (October 24), Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid greeted viewers and discussed some of the day’s most urgent news items, including the impending 2025 ban on disposable vapes and the launch of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

As the programme was drawing to a close, they welcomed the 54-year-old showbiz guru onto the set to share the latest celebrity news.

However, before delving into his segment, Richard Arnold casually mentioned that the mother-of-three would be taking a break from the desk to spend some quality time with her family.

In a playful exchange, Richard Madeley asked: “Alright Dickie, tell us, what have you got? ” This led the entertainment expert to joke: “Oh, a bit of Tom Hardy, which is no bad news as I send you off, Suz, which is why I’m on at the end of the show to make sure you actually leave,” according to the Express.

Susanna couldn’t resist laughing at her colleague’s humorous comment before he proceeded with his Hollywood update. The person who will fill in for Susanna during her family getaway is yet to be revealed.

However, Kate Garraway, Ranvir Singh, and Charlotte Hawkins could potentially step in while the regular host is absent.

Elsewhere on the show, Ben Shephard made a triumphant return to surprise a very special guest.

Ben welcomed Pride Of Britain winner Jacob Newson, 10, who has raised over £160,000 in memory of his mum – a gesture that moved him to tears.

Susanna warmly greeted her former colleague, saying: “Lovely to see you back! ” to which Ben responded, “Gosh, it’s funny being back!”

Richard couldn’t resist chiming in with a joke: “Fancy taking over Ben?”

The touching reunion sparked an emotional response from viewers, one of whom shared on social media: “#GMB What an amazing inspiring young man. I cannot stop crying #prideofbritain @GMB.”

Another early riser commented: “Oh god, I’m crying at 7.45am, his reaction to being a mascot at Leeds #GMB”.

A further tweet from someone else read: “It’s a while since @benshephard has made me cry on @GMB #GMB #Jacob #PrideofBritainAwards.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
