The cities and towns with the cheapest beer in Scotland have been named.

All over Scotland, there are countless pubs, inns, and eateries serving up beer. While everyone has their own local favourite, some destinations are cheaper for a pint than others.

To find out how much prices differ, Alliance Online researched the average cost of a beer in cities and towns across the country. According to the experts, Kilmarnock is the cheapest destination for a pint in Scotland.

A pint in the town and former burgh in East Ayrshire was found to be £3.25. Situated in southeast Scotland, Kilmarnock is home to more than 30 pubs and bars.

Meanwhile, Dunfermline and Glenrothes are the second-cheapest places for a pint in Scotland. According to the experts, you can expect to pay £3.40 for a pint in the town and city respectively.

Elsewhere, rounding out the top five are Ayr and Falkirk. The average cost of a pint in both the South Ayrshire and Stirlingshire towns was found to be £3.50.

Another Scottish destination to appear on Alliance Online’s list of the top 10 cheapest places for a pint in Dundee, where punters pay an average of £3.67. The experts also found that the average cost was £4 in Cumbernauld, Greenock, and Stirling.

Finally, completing the top 10 is Inverness. In the capital of the Scottish Highlands, a pint will set you back £4.02 on average.

Rachael Kiss from Alliance Online commented: “Our study shows that customers can still very much get a bargain beer if they look for one, with the cost of a pint varying depending on where you live in the UK. We were surprised to see such low prices in unexpected places that have well-reviewed local pubs.

“This is good news for locals and tourists alike! It is worth noting that no matter how cheap establishments price their beer, cleanliness of beer lines should remain a top priority.

“This is because not cleaning beer lines properly could risk a poor food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency.”
