A car was engulfed in fire on a major Scots road during rush hour traffic.

Emergency crews were alerted to the blaze on the M90 at around 5:35pm this afternoon, Friday, October 25.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have ‘dampened’ the blaze but fire officers remain at the scene.

Traffic Scotland said that two lanes are currently closed and drivers should expect delays of at least 15 minutes.

Police Scotland confirmed they are currently at the scene managing traffic.

Images shows flames ripping from the vehicle as smoke billowed into the air.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted to a vehicle on fire on the M90 At 5:36pm. Two appliances were dispatched and remain at the scene dampening the fire.”
