Five more football fans have been charged following ‘violent disorder’ on the streets of Edinburgh earlier this month.

The Hibernian and Motherwell fixture at Easter Road on Saturday, October, 5 was marred by fans clashing with cops after the game in the St Andrew Square area of the city. Cops announced today, Friday, October 25, that a further five men aged, 32, 21, 20, 19 and 18 have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

The Record previously reported on four men, aged 16, 17, 18 and 22, being charged in connection with the incident. Eyewitnesses alleged to have seen glass bottles being thrown between both groups after the Scottish Premiership game between the two clubs.

Images on social media show rows of cop cars parked up at the scene with blue lights on as officers dealt with the carnage. It is currently unknown if there were any injuries.

Chief Inspector Craig Rogerson said: “These arrests show that disorder is not acceptable. We want to create a safe environment for people before, during and after football matches. We will continue to work closely with both clubs and football authorities.

“The men will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal and are expected to appear at Court at a later date. Football banning orders will be sought, preventing them from attending any regulated football matches in Scotland. Further enquiries are ongoing.”
