A woman was left fuming after her date expected her to split the bill on their first outing.

The woman, known as Saf and posting under the handle @saffronmariexx on TikTok, shared a video of her experience, captioning it: “Girls ask me ALL the time how do you spot the bad signs on a first date, well I’m showing you an example so you don’t have to go yourself.”

She claimed she’d spotted “red flags the whole time” during the date, with the man’s suggestion to split the bill being the final straw.

“Firstly, a grown man ordered a milkshake and was wearing Crocs on the first date. Not to mention, he literally took us to a caf. When he said to wear casual, this is why,” she vented. She was also puzzled by his choice of a child’s pasta dish while she had a full-sized portion.

The video then showed her confronting him about taking her salad, to which he responded: “I thought you got this Miss Moneybags.”

The bill came to £54.90, and it seemed he either expected her to pay or for them to split the cost equally – neither of which Saffron was pleased with.

When he suggested she contribute to the bill, she casually responded: “There’s no rush, let me order some more things,” and proceeded to treat herself to a milkshake while encouraging him to indulge in a dessert. Unbeknownst to him, this was all part of her calculated scheme to exact revenge for his audacity to ask her to pay for her share of their date.

“Then I made an excuse that I needed to step out for a second. In all honesty, if you invite someone out, then you are the one paying – so goodbye, you’ll never see me again,” Saffron declared as she confidently walked down the high street, capturing the moment on video. In the comments section, opinions were divided.

One supporter wrote: “Crocs, milkshake… can’t believe someone wouldn’t pull everything out for a date with you, finest restaurant, gifts, flowers, limousine, all the works!” Yet another countered: “Dates should be about the vibes, not superficial things. You can still have a good time without splashing cash.”

“Crocs and a milkshake is crazy work,” chimed in a woman, while another questioned: “Why didn’t you pay? He barely ordered a thing,” adding: “Maybe speak on who’s paying next time before ordering I don’t know I wouldn’t go out order loads more than a man and expect him to pay.”
