Netflix viewers have been flocking to Twitter to heap praise on a gripping medical show that recently made its debut on the platform.
The Resident dropped on Netflix just last month, making a strong impact on the platform’s ‘Top 10 Shows in the UK’ list despite being an older series.
The six-season drama originally premiered on Fox in 2018, finishing up its five-year run in 2023 after it was cancelled by the Network.
Following its renewed popularity thanks to Netflix, fans are now calling for the series to be renewed, with some even dubbing it the “best medical drama ever”.
The show, which follows the medical staff at the fictional Chastain Park Memorial Hospital in Georgia, also stars one of Gilmore Girls’ most memorable actors, Logan Huntzberger actor Matt Czuchry.
Czuchry portrays Dr. Conrad Hawkins, who has been described as a “fist-bumping, cocky, and beloved senior resident” who “knows the rules and how to break them.”
The show also stars Manish Dayal as Dr. Devon Pravesh, Bruce Greenwood as Dr. Randolph Bell and Revenge’s Emily VanCamp as nurse practitioner Nicolette Nevin.
After furiously binging the show, many fans have taken to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to applaud The Resident.
“I don’t usually enjoy medical dramas but #TheResident is fire,” one person enthused. (sic)
Another exclaimed: “I don’t know why nobody is talking about The resident! That series is the best Medical series I’ve watched! #TheGOATOnNetflix #TheResident.” (sic)
A third viewer wrote: “Started watching #theresident and I love it… the sarcasm and banter is [100 emoji].” (sic)
“#TheResident really is such a good show to watch,” another tweeted, as one more admitted: “I’m done watching #TheResident. What to do with my life now??.” (sic)
Yet another fan echoed this sentiment, writing: “Omg #TheResident All 6 seasons done. What do I do now? [crying emoji].” (sic)
One more fan expressed: “The fact that #TheResident was cancelled is criminal, I haven’t enjoyed a show this much in such a long time.”
Meanwhile, other viewers confessed to having a crush on Czuchry’s Dr. Conrad Hawkins in particular, with one tweeting: “I find Conrad extremely attractive?”
Another agreed: “Been watching #theresident on #netflix and the little smirk that #MattCzuchry has in SOO many of his scenes just does things to me.” (sic)
