Naked and Afraid star Sarah Danser has died aged 34 following a horror accident.

The star was sitting as a passenger in a stationary car when a man driving at speed smashed into the vehicle in Kahala, Hawaii, at the weekend.

Jane’s brother has led tributes to the reality TV star, describing her as “magical”.

Sarah was raced to hospital after she sustained fatal injuries but tragically died on Tuesday, reports the Mirror.

According to local media, a 59-year-old man was travelling eastbound in Kahala when his vehicle lost control and collided with the parked car Sarah was in.

According to police, while speed was a factor, there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was hospitalised and sustained serious injuries, whilst a woman who was in the parked car with Sarah was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

Meanwhile, a man who was in the parked car with Sarah refused treatment from medics.

Speaking to KSLA, Jake Danser paid a moving tribute, he said: “Magical is the way to describe her. Sarah had this positive energy about her that just really filled the environment she was in.”

Sarah’s dad, Dan, who arrived at the hospital just before Sarah’s death, said: “I actually saw how much of a difference she made in the lives of others. I think she saved my life once, diving in Indonesia.”

Sarah was a survivor of breast cancer, according to relatives. She first appeared on the survival programme in 2017, returning to the show after just one year for the all-stars edition, Naked and Afraid XL.

In 2023, Sarah appeared on Fight to Survive, which aired on the CW network and saw 17 competitors fight to win $250,000 while battling to survive on a remote island for 25 days.

Following her death, Melissa Lauren who starred alongside Sarah on Naked and Afraid said: “She wasn’t only a fierce survivalist on Naked and Afraid (she completed XL in South Africa with me), but a breast cancer survivor who kept an inspiring and positive attitude through her treatment.”

Sarah, who was originally from Colorado, spent around 12 years in Hawaii. She was known as a television personality and for her career as a master diver, boat captain, and self-proclaimed “pirate”.

Her most recent employment was with Island Divers Hawaii, who is now coordinating with her family to establish an ocean memorial in her honour

Sarah’s online followers have since rushed to pay tribute, with one writing: “Such a sad loss in the survival community and in the community of kindness and compassion. It would be so lovely to see everyone STOP asking what happened to her and remember that she is a loved member of multiple lives and her last moments do not belong to you. Do better.”

“RIP, what a sad loss, my condolences to your family,” commented a second. Meanwhile a third typed: “RIP Captain Sarah. May you always have fair winds and following seas.”
