With Halloween and half-term hitting this week, many parents will be on the hunt for tasty snacks to whip up with their little ones.

It’s often a challenge to find recipes that cater to toddlers too, but fear not, as domestic culinary whiz Chelsey Watkins has stepped in with a solution.

Chelsey, who boasts 616,000 followers on her @foodiefunwithus Instagram page, shared her ‘toddler-friendly chocolate apples‘ recipe perfect for Halloween, much to the delight of parents.

In an engaging reel, she showcased the delightful final product a chocolate apple lolly smothered in sprinkles followed by a demonstration of her method. The process involved slicing apples, melting chocolate, skewering the apple slices onto sticks, dipping them into the chocolate, placing them on parchment paper, and finally garnishing them with white chocolate sauce and sprinkles.

Chelsey captioned the post: “These toddler friendly chocolate covered apples are the perfect size for little hands and a delicious sweet treat this Autumn.”

She also offered a brilliant tip, suggesting: “No lollipop sticks? Cut out an inner circle and create chocolate covered apple ‘doughnuts’ instead! “.

To make the treats even more fun, she advised: “Sprinkles are completely optional, but they do make them a little more fun! Instead of sprinkles you could use, chopped nuts, dried fruit pieces or a drizzle of peanut butter instead.”

Chelsey then provided further instructions for preparing the delightful treats, detailing: “Simple cut an apple into thick slices before covering in melted milk chocolate and then drizzle over some white chocolate, add sprinkles if using and then pop into the fridge to set for at least 30 minutes.”

The suggestion went down a treat online, garnering over 13,000 likes as avid fans praised the idea. An enthusiastic user proclaimed: “Such a good idea. These look much easier to eat than toffee apples.” Meanwhile, another concurred: “Love this for Halloween.”

One more added their voice to the chorus of approval, saying: “Wonderful, thank you! Whole ones are a pain to eat even for an adult but my boy loves the idea of them so this is perfect.”
