VP Kamala Harris is in town for a Get Out the Vote rally on Friday that will include music superstars Willie Nelson and Beyoncé.

HOUSTON — Vice President Kamala Harris is officially in Houston.

Her plane landed at Hobby Airport on Thursday night around 10 p.m.

Harris is in town for a big Get Out the Vote rally on Friday that’s expected to include music superstars Willie Nelson and Beyoncé, as well as Tina Knowles.

Although the details of the Harris rally haven’t been revealed by her campaign, Houston’s downtown district emailed an advisory on Thursday afternoon on behalf of the Houston Police Department. The advisory said the rally will be held at Shell Energy Stadium — just east of downtown.

Outside of the stadium on Thursday, metal gates and portable toilets were being set up and people started lining up outside of the ticket counters.

Video from Air 11 showed crews setting up stage equipment, lights, and flooring on the grass of the soccer field.

The rally is also expected to boost the campaign of Texas’ Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Rep. Colin Allred, who’s looking to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.

CBS News has learned that the vice president’s visit to Houston will be centered around reproductive freedom in Texas. She is expected to be joined by men and women directly impacted by the state’s abortion ban, which she believes is one of the top issues for many voters in Texas.

CBS News also learned that Harris is expected to sit down with local podcaster Brené Brown to further discuss this issue.

Both Harris and former President Donald Trump have been spending quite a bit of time in Texas with only 12 days until Election Day. Experts said it’s because Texas is being treated as a battleground state.

Trump is holding a rally in Austin on Friday and Cruz will be there looking to get a boost to his campaign.

While in Austin, Trump is planning to sit down for an interview on the Joe Rogan Podcast and also hold a news conference with Cruz on border security.

KHOU 11 political analyst Brandon Rottinghaus said it’s rare for presidential candidates to make visits to Texas so late in the campaign.

“The polling tells us this is a close race. The turnout numbers are showing this is definitely competitive, both parties, both candidates really wanna make sure that they close the deal here, that they put enough effort and resources behind this to make sure they’ve done everything they can to make sure their voters come out,” Rottinghaus said.

Harris is expected to stay in Houston until Saturday.
