Strictly Come Dancing’s Wynne Evans has sparked concerns among viewers, with some suggesting he appears to be “not enjoying” his time on the show.

The BBC’s flagship dance competition made its return to our screens on Saturday (October 26), with tensions running high as the remaining celebrities vied for their spot in the ongoing contest.

Viewers were drawn to Wynne Evans as the Go Compare icon hit the dance floor alongside his professional partner, aiming to wow the judges and those watching at home with their Salsa performance.

Following what seemed to be an exhausting routine, the opera singer was seen crawling towards presenter Tess Daly to receive feedback from the panel.

Their efforts clearly paid off, with judge Craig Revel Horwood awarding the advertising favourite seven points. The other judges felt more generous, each bestowing eight points upon him, likely securing his position in the upper echelons of the leaderboard, reports the Mirror.

Despite the positive scores, some viewers at home sense that Wynne is not quite himself. One viewer expressed their thoughts on X, stating: “Wynne really doesn’t seem to be enjoying the show as much as he did #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”

Another shared their observation: “I thought Wyn looked a bit like he was being dragged around a bit #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly.” Meanwhile, a third chimed in with: “Anyone else think Wynne is faking a smile or is it just me? “.

This week, the couples are pulling out all the stops with their routines and costumes for Halloween week, featuring performances inspired by ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ and ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’.

The judges also embraced the spooky spirit, with viewers treated to Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke channelling the twins from ‘The Shining’, Motsi Mabuse transforming into Cruella de Vil, and Shirley Ballas becoming Winifred Sanderson.

The show has been tinged with controversy behind the scenes after Wynne reportedly made an inappropriate joke. Sources claim that while gearing up for the show, he quipped his double chin looked like female anatomy.

Allegedly made before the BBC contest’s opening programme, an insider commented: “It was a bit of a vulgar dad joke.”

No formal complaints were lodged following the jest, but it seems to have ruffled some feathers among the crew. The source added: “Wynne clearly didn’t mean any offence, but you have to be a little bit careful these days.”
