TEMPE, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) – The cause of death for a Wells Fargo employee who was found dead at her desk over the summer has been released.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner said 60-year-old Denise Prudhomme died of “sudden cardiac death in the setting of myocardial fibrosis,” which means scar tissue was built up in the heart.

Medical experts say heart attacks are often the leading cause of the condition.

According to Tempe police, Prudhomme, who worked at the Wells Fargo corporate office near Priest Drive and Washington Street, scanned into work on Aug. 16 at 7 a.m.

Four days later, on Aug. 20, Tempe officers responded to reports about a person down and found Prudhomme dead.

Employees shared that Prudhomme’s cubicle was on the third floor and away from the main aisle.

Authorities said investigators found no signs of foul play.
