A Jet2 flight to Glasgow Airport declared a mid-air emergency as it was flying over the UK from Spain.

The Boeing 737-8MG left Palma de Mallorca shortly after 2pm, heading for Scotland’s largest city.

But just over an hour later, at around 3.10pm, a 7700 squawk code was sounded, indicating an emergency on board flight LS190.

The aircraft landed safely at Glasgow Airport at around 3:30pm, but the reason for the emergency remains unknown.

Jet2 and Glasgow Airport were approached for comment.
