Insistent Michael Stewart believes Rangers are now feeling added heat amid Aberdeen’s red-hot run which has them nine points clear of the Ibrox side.

Philippe Clement’s side will be itching to close the points gap back to six against St Mirren before he takes his side to Pittodrie on Wednesday night in a contest which appears season-defining for both. Rangers know a defeat in the Granite City – even if victory is secured against the Buddies – would leave them cut adrift of both Celtic and Jimmy Thelin’s high-flyers.

Premier Sports commentator Rory Hamilton insisted champions Celtic will feel the heat in the wake of Aberdeen’s latest win, however, Stewart reckons another team are under no illusions of what must come next for Clement and his players. “I’ll tell you what else it does, if Aberdeen get the three points here, it puts mega pressure on Rangers tomorrow (against St Mirren on Sunday) followed up Wednesday night at Pittodrie. It adds a real dynamic to the league campaign, as a whole, and to that fixture on Wednesday.”
