CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV/Gray News) – A Missouri woman said she ordered her dream wedding dress months ago but, ended up not being able to wear it once it finally arrived.

According to Angeleena Johnson, she found her The from Signature Bridal in Chesterfield back in June.

“When you’re planning your wedding, that’s one of the top things you get. You get your venue, you get your dress,” she said. “That’s a huge thing they say to get nine months in advance.”

Johnson’s wedding is scheduled for November.

Her mother, Margaret Kiser, said they even paid extra for a rush order on the dress.

“They said it would be here by the end of August, beginning of September,” Kiser said. “That time came, we called but they said, ‘It’s not here yet.’” Another week went by, another week went by.”

Kiser said she went to the store on Oct. 2 to inquire about the dress.

According to Kiser, the sales associate told her the dress was in a local shop for alterations and repairs and she decided to wait for the dress.

But not long after making that decision to wait, the mother said several police officers walked into the store.

“In walks two cops, another two cops. [The store] had called the cops,” Kiser said. “I told them the whole story and one of the officers asked when the wedding was and the officer said, ‘Oh yeah, this lady needs her dress.’”

Chesterfield police said officers were called to the store for a dispute between a customer and an employee.

Johnson said she ended up picking up the dress the following day. She tried it on a few days later but only to make a startling discovery.

“It won’t zip up,” the mother said.

Johnson added, “There was about a five-to-six-inch gap in the dress.”

Later that week, they went back to the bridal shop and got a refund for the dress.

They said they were able to find the same dress at another store.

“My whole thing is how many more people is this happening to?” Kiser said. “We were on the 11th hour.”

KMOV reports that its team received multiple messages from viewers who experienced similar situations with Signature Bridal.

Megan Price, the store’s owner, said she is working to make the situation right and is trying to get answers for them about the particular situation as soon as possible.

On Friday, the store shared that it has cut ties with Stella York Essence of Australia, stating in part “The decision was made with the intention of aligning with our long-term vision.”

Representatives with Stella York Essence of Australia did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
