Jimmy Thelin insists he is paying no mind to Aberdeen topping the Premiership table on Saturday night and is already switching his focus for a mega tussle with Rangers at Pittodrie on Wednesday.

The Dons moved three points clear of Celtic ahead of their trip to Motherwell on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Dundee United, with substitute Peter Ambrose netting the winner four minutes from time. It’s now 14 wins from 15 matches under the Swede but the former Elfsborg boss is keeping his feet firmly on the ground. Asked about his side’s league position, he replied: “I don’t think about that at all actually.

“For us we enjoy today, then tomorrow recover and focus on the next game. You can ask me the same question in the last part of May maybe, but not now.

“We work as usual on how we prepare ourselves. Rangers is a really strong team and we know we need to stay focused on the right things to prepare ourselves and reload. I hope Pittodrie is sold out again on Wednesday.”
