Fun-loving Jota joked his grand plan surrounding his emotional Celtic return is in peril after going above and beyond to find the net for Rennes.

The winger is winning hearts and minds with the Ligue 1 club as he picks up the pieces from his ill-fated £25m transfer to Al-Ittihad after his emotional exit from Parkhead. But Jota is feeling good despite taking a sore one down below when he turned home against Brest last weekend. Posting on social media, he said: “Profitable week this one. We build on it, not so much for the future generations of Jotinhas tho (last pic).”

Jota was referencing turning home with his nether regions and it comes weeks after he guaranteed Celtic fans he will return with his pending brood to experience Celtic Park’s famed atmosphere. Speaking earlier this month, the 25-year-old said: “You had to be in Glasgow at that moment to feel it. Playing at Celtic Park, feeling the love of the fans, having the chance to be coached by an incredible coach (Ange Postecoglou) in a group where everything turned out well. You have to thank everyone.

“I hope one day to be able to show my children what it was like, all the love I received. I’ll remember it for the rest of my life. It touched me because I didn’t expect it. When they started singing it, it was a very special moment.”
