A fantastic week in Europe for our three representatives – do you fancy them all to progress to the knockout stages?

ANDREW NEWPORT: They’re all within touching distance. Nine points might enough for both Celtic and Rangers and with five games to go they should fancy their chances while Hearts are sitting pretty too.

FRASER WILSON: Celtic and Rangers are in a strong position to cement a play-off spot which was the realistic target at the outset. Looking at the remaining fixtures a top eight spot looks a little out of reach. Hearts however have a great chance to gain automatic last 16 qualification which would be remarkable given their start to the season.

GRAEME YOUNG: Celtic and Hearts look in good shape but Philippe Clement’s side face four consecutive games as the underdog against Olympiacos, Nice, Spurs and Man Utd. Just one seismic result will keep them in the hunt for when they take on Union Saint Gilloise in January.

Rangers got their biggest Euro win in 17 years by thrashing FCSB but is a corner being turned?

ANDREW: That they have to reach the standards they hit on Thursday if they’re to have any chance at all. Drop below it and you get what we saw at Rugby Park.

FRASER: They did a professional job and scored some excellent goals but the Romanians were poor. The real test is whether they can back it up by beating St Mirren and more to the point a rampant Aberdeen at Pittodrie this week. Do that and then the wheel will be turning.

GRAEME: Perhaps. But the galling nature of Sunday’s defeat at Kilmarnock means it will take more than a Europa League pasting to heal wounds. Clement will know goals and excitement are vital in changing opinions.

It’s Edinburgh derby weekend but who takes capital bragging rights on Sunday?

ANDREW: Hearts may have struggled at the start of the season but they’re picking up pace while Hibs are trapped in a doom cycle of their own making.
Home advantage might give them a shot at a draw but given the dark mood in Leith right now, it could also work against David Gray’s side.

FRASER: It’s hard to see past Hearts given the incredible start Neil Critchley has had.

The energy and quality displayed to dump Omonia on Thursday was impressive. Hibs must stop shooting themselves in the foot. The pressure is on big time. But it could be ramped up to boiling point if they lose the derby on their own turf.

GRAEME: It defies logic but Hibs need a win so badly their downtrodden fans might just force the ball over the line through sheer will. The Edinburgh derby, for all the hype, often flatters to deceive. Sunday has to buck that trend.

Where does Celtic’s goalless draw at Atalanta sit in the Hoops’ modern day Euro exploits?

ANDREW: It’s a cracking result but it still comes a long way behind beating Leo Messi’s Barcelona or Lazio in Rome.

FRASER: It’s only a point but far more importantly it’s a massive mental boost going forward to convince Celtic they can shut out top level sides and still carry a threat. Nothing spectacular to rival the Barcelona, Milan or Lazio wins in the last two decades. But hugely important at the same time.

GRAEME: It has to be right up there. The mood among Celtic supporters in the aftermath was one of genuine belief – a defiant display they now believe can be replicated. Celtic often fall short due to a lack of guile but Rodgers’ side looked streetwise.
