Disgraced former BBC presenter Jermaine Jenas has made his first TV appearance – since he was sacked by broadcaster over sending inappropriate texts to female colleagues. The former Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder, 41, was let go by the BBC in August following the scandal and has kept a low profile since.

However today he was spotted at the Emirates Stadium ahead of the huge Premier League clash between Arsenal and Liverpool. Pictures spotted him pitchside with a TV crew.

It comes after he took to social media last month to address the situation and thank fans for their support. During a video posted on his Instagram account, Jenas hinted that there were plans in place for him to return to the airwaves soon, The Mirror reports.

It has now emerged the former One Show host was at the North London ground working for an overseas broadcaster, covering the big match. Since hanging up his boots, Jenas seamlessly transitioned into a punditry career and was a regular on the BBC, where he made appearances on Match of the Day alongside his role with The One Show.

Jenas was even touted as a potential long-term successor to MOTD host Gary Lineker before the corporation confirmed his departure. A BBC spokesperson said in August: “We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line up.”

Jenas was also a regular on TNT Sports’ coverage of the Premier League. However the pundit has not appeared for the broadcaster since his dismissal by the BBC.

In the video clip he shared on social media last month, Jenas alluded to having some “exciting” projects in the pipeline after reflecting on the situation.

He said: “There’s some exciting stuff that I’ve been working on. So hopefully you’ll have that to look forward to very soon. And hopefully I’ll be back just talking about what I love, really, which is football. I’ve been living the life of those Spurs fans who’ve been up and down and up and down.

“Forest got a great result up at Anfield and have been playing well. So I’ve been watching but I’m looking forward to kind of getting back and just talking about what I love most. So last of all, thank you very much and, yeah, I’ll see you soon.”
