As someone who has had thin, fine hair her entire life, it can be a nightmare searching for the right products to make my locks look less frazzled without weighing it down.

Since my hair is fussy, I often stick to the same products to avoid the inevitable limp, greasy after effect. However, when Stacey Solomon-loved brand Rehab launched a new hair oil specifically catered to my hair type, I decided to listen up.

The female-founded haircare brand recently dropped the new Dose 1.1 Fine Hair Oil Capsules that were so popular they “sold out within hours of their release”. Not just a sell out success, as they are also on offer, with 30 capsules reduced from £26 to just £20.80.

These nifty little capsules promise a “lightweight” combination of hair-loving oils that will leave your locks looking “hydrated”. Was I enticed by the prospect of finding a product that would leave my thin hair glowing and shiny without any grease? Of course I was.

Which is why I was excited to get the chance to try out the new Dose 1.1 Fine Hair Oil Capsules to see if they really do live up to the hype – and promise. Here are my full thoughts.

Hair nourishing vitamins

While I know the benefits of hair oils have been proven over the years, I have always struggled to find the right one, as they usually offer ‘heavy’ oils. Fortunately, Rehab’s Fine Hair Dose Capsules specifically contain ‘lighter’ oil that are designed for fine hair.

We’re talking the likes of macadamia oil, camellia oil and also sweet almond oil, alongside the addition of Vitamin E to provide “condition” and “moisture” to my dry hair. As these promise a “dry touch texture”, this is one for those who don’t want their hair to look like someone has poured oil over it.

Oh, did I also happen to mention that they are good for the environment? They are designed to dissolve when simply popped in hot water once finished, which means no nasty plastic packaging lying around.

An ever-lasting shine and softness

When I first opened the tub of capsules, the first thing I noticed, which might sound odd, was the scent. It wasn’t overpowering, but offered a very sweet almond smell that was very pleasant, unlike some oils that smell of chemicals.

After managing to cut open the capsule, as I found it difficult to twist, I discovered that each capsule contained quite a decent amount of oil inside. While I know that’s good value for money, I was initially worried that it would still be too much for my hair.

I needn’t have been worried though, as it immediately melted into my damp hair, freshly-showered hair. The thing that I really noticed was, as soon as I popped this “weightless” oil through my hair, it instantly felt soft and salon-smooth.

Since I have been on a mission to cut back on using heat on my blonde hair, I opted to style my freshly oiled hair with my heatless curler over night. Wrapping my hair around the styler, I noticed that, even damp, my hair ends didn’t snag as much and felt much more nourished in just one use.

So what was the result in the morning? After removing my heatless curler, I noticed that my hair had an instant glossy shine that immediately brought my tresses ‘back to life’, so to speak. You could still smell the faint aroma of sweet almonds, which was really appealing, but the main selling point for me was how silky soft and healthy my hair looked.

The problem I have with some oils and other hair products is that, even after applying them, the ends of my hair are still dry, while the lengths look a little frizzy and unruly. That leads to me needing to use more and, inevitably, leading to a greasy look, but that was certainly not the case with these little capsules.

Overall impression

After using the Rehab Dose 1.1 Fine Hair Oil once a week for the past couple of weeks, I think it’s safe to say that I understand why they sold out so quickly.

The girl with fine, dry hair that looked greasy with most products – who even is she? In her place was a woman with nourished, shiny hair that looked as though it has stepped straight out of the salon.

For my fellow thin hair sufferers, these oil capsules offer the right amount of product that will melt into your hair for instant nourishment. No longer will you have to suffer through heavier oils that weigh down your hair that offer nothing but an underwhelming feeling that nothing will work.

Considering not many other products on the market have benefitted me this well before, I see myself stocking up.

Nevertheless, it is worth mentioning that, as they contain nut oils, they might not be suitable for anyone with nut allergies, so it’s worth keeping an eye on that when buying them.

You can purchase 30 capsules of the Rehab Dose 1.1 Fine Hair Oil Capsules for 20 percent less here.

For a similar lightweight oil, you could also give the £4.49 OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Weightless Reviving Dry Oil a chance. Meanwhile, the cult £7.80 L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary For Dry Hair has long been compared to the much pricier Kerastase, and it’s suitable for all hair types.
