There’s nothing quite like a hearty Sunday roast, and we recently visited a restaurant that has newly introduced this staple to its menu. Boxcar Bar and Grill, located in the heart of London between Marylebone and Marble Arch, now offers a Sunday Roast menu featuring monthly specials alongside classic favourites.

The eatery boasts a range of British meats and seasonal produce, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Each month, Boxcar puts a fresh twist on the traditional Sunday roast with a different seasonal special.

This month, they kicked off with a pork belly roast, which was an absolute delight. The pork was crunchy, flavourful, and left us wanting more.

The accompanying roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, thanks to a secret ingredient – beef fat. All items on the menu are sourced from local produce, making Boxcar a must-visit for food enthusiasts.

The restaurant itself exudes a cosy yet lively atmosphere, with the comforting aroma of charcoal grill cooking wafting through the air. The staff provided exceptional service throughout our visit, ensuring we were well taken care of.

The menu boasts a range of tantalising dishes, including the signature Hereford beef sirloin that is not only melt-in-the-mouth but also packed with flavour. Another standout dish is the free-range chicken served with charred hispi cabbage, roasted carrots, beef fat roast potatoes and red wine jus.

This dish comes with a side of truffled cauliflower cheese which is rich and indulgent – something we’re keen to try replicating at home for our next Sunday roast.

Menu highlights and prices:

  • October roast special Tamworth pork belly – Available for one (£26) or for sharing (£48).
  • Hereford beef sirloin – Available as a single portion (£29) or a generous sharing option (£53).
  • Free-range chicken with sage and apricot stuffing – Available for one (£24) or sharing (£42).

The restaurant also offers a wide range of other dishes including premium steaks, burgers, and a variety of seasonal specials. Bookings are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome, and the venue is pet-friendly.
