EFL League One side Leyton Orient are planning an audacious move for free agent Ryan Kent – according to a report.

The former Rangers wide man has been unattached since his contract at Fenerbahce was terminated earlier this month after he fell out of favour with new Istanbul boss Jose Mourinho. Kent had only joined the Turkish club on a free transfer from the Gers in the summer of 2023 but was restricted to just 19 appearances with the club. Kent had hoped to move on during the summer window but saw a late switch to the Saudi Pro League fall through.

The ex Liverpool youngster is now on the lookout for a new team, and according to Sun Sport, Orient, who currently sit one point above the relegation zone in the English third tier, are hoping to bring the winger back to England. Some Rangers fans have called for Kent to be brought back to Ibrox for a second spell and although any potential move was ruled out by Philippe Clement, the Belgian did recently reveal that he tried to sign the former Light Blues title winner when he was manager of Gent.

Clement said: “I’ve said a lot of times I don’t go into rumours because it never stops. So I’m not going to go into rumours but of course I know the player and I’ve known him a long time.

“The moment he went to Rangers I was in talks with him to get him to Brugge. But there was a better deal for him at Rangers and chose that. So I’ve known him a long time but I won’t go into rumours about bringing in players or not.”
