Strictly Come Dancing fans were left gobsmacked by the latest dance off result – which, as usual, leaked early, but this time – in a shocking twist – some viewers were actually pleased with the outcome. The beloved BBC dance show is currently in its 22nd series – having graced our screens for an impressive two decades.
Strictly aficionados know that both the Saturday night live show and Sunday night result show are recorded on Saturday night. This leaves almost a full day’s suspense before viewers discover which celebrity pair have been deemed the week’s worst performers and must face a nerve-wracking dance off.
The losing duo is then permanently ejected from the show – with the result broadcast on BBC One on Sunday evening. However, for years now, a relentless insider has spoiled the result of the dance off hours before it airs after witnessing the outcome in real time as the Sunday night show records immediately after the Saturday night live show.
As predictable as a parking attendant ready to ruin days at the start of their shift, the mole has once again spoiled the result show for fans. The party pooper has shared the result via a website and social media, leaving fans shocked by the couples who were told they had to dance for their survival.
And what’s more, they were taken aback by the outcome, reports the Mirror.
The Mirror has refrained from disclosing the latest Strictly Come Dancing results to preserve the excitement for die-hard fans, but online reactions this week have varied. While one viewer expressed relief on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating: “Just seen the Strictly spoiler. Thank gosh. Was really worried! ” another shared their contentment: “The strictly spoiler has me going to bed happy!! Right person left in my opinion.”
However, some fans were left feeling deflated, with one tweeting: “Devastated at the spoiler tonight. They had so much more to give and improved quite a bit throughout the competition so far #Strictly.”
Another added: “Strictly spoiler has me feeling very sad right now.”
As of Saturday night, 11 celebrity pairings remain, marching on towards the midpoint of the contest’s fierce showdown. Tom Dean, the Olympic swimmer, along with his partner Nadiya Bychkova, faced the ignominy of being the first duo of the 2024 series to be eliminated after failing to survive the dance off at September’s end.
Hot on their heels was legendary vocalist Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones, her dance partner, exiting next. DIY SOS star Nick Knowles also made an exit – the third celebrity to do so – despite gallantly fighting through injuries in an attempt to secure his place; he and dance partner Luba Mushtuk said their goodbyes in mid-October.
England footballer turned pundit Paul Merson was the fourth star to be voted off along with his partner Karen Hauer. So far, one of the couples to beat in the 2024 season appears to be EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas as they have routinely scored deep into the 30s following the judges comments.
