Two good Samaritans stepped in to confront a man hassling a woman on a Manhattan subway train — then held him for cops after he pulled out a knife and started swinging at them, police said Monday.
The attacker was bothering a woman on an L train station at the First Ave. station in the East Village about 12:30 a.m. Sunday when the do-gooders stepped in.
That’s when the assailant whipped out a folding knife and menaced them with it, cops say.
But the good Samaritans were able to grab Williams without getting hurt and hold onto him until police responded.
Christopher Williams, 44, was charged with menacing and weapons possession. In addition to the knife, he had pepper spray in his fanny pack, police said. He was released without bail after being arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court Sunday.
