It’s been an eventful couple of months for the Rotary Club of Rutherglen.

A varied programme of speakers arranged by Rotary Vice President Janice Ross have kept members both informed and entertained at club nights.

Among the visitors welcomed to speak was Emma Bacon, a member of the Glasgow Young Curlers Club, at the meeting on September 5.

Emma spoke enthusiastically about her enjoyable experiences as a curler.

As some of the Rotarians present were themselves keen curlers previously, they were pleased to learn the sport is healthy and in good hands.

At a meeting on September 19, the guest speaker was Alan Davies, who delivered the speech and presentation – My life as a Paramedic.

Alan provided a fascinating insight to that profession. A vote of thanks was given by Past President Brian Williams, who related some of his experiences in his early career assisting in ambulance work as a trainee doctor.

Then at the meeting on October 10, the Rotary Club welcomed Peter Burton who is an inaugural member of Cambuslang Chess Club.

The Rotarians were impressed by his enthusiasm and the amazing growth of this club in just a short time which, with its great community spirit, now has over 190 members from all walks of life. One of whom is Rotary Vice President Janice Ross.
