Forensic cops have been combing the scene of a horror ‘stabbing’ which left a ‘family estate’ in ‘shock’.
The knife attack sparked a huge emergency response, including police, paramedics and an air ambulance all being scrambled to the scene at around 2.10pm in the Collyhurst area of Manchester.
A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, after police were called to reports of a ‘serious assault’ near Thornton Street North, The MEN reports.
Videos from the scene show the medic chopper landing on a grassed area beside a residential street. Police vans could also be seen swarming on the road as the area was sealed off and forensics arrived.
Activity continued throughout the afternoon, with officers spotted using torches and scouring the ground for clues. No arrests have been made as a probe into the attack has been launched.
One resident said how they witnessed the victim ‘bleeding badly’ in the streets shortly after emergency services descended on the area.
Local councillor Pat Karney has since demanded an ‘urgent briefing’ from police and said ‘all of Collyhurst are shocked’ at the stabbing ‘on a family estate’.
“All of Collyhurst are shocked to hear about this horrific stabbing,” he said. “This stabbing has took place on a residential family estate. We have few details at the moment but hope the person injured recovers.
“We will be requesting GMP to provide us with an urgent briefing. These incidents always raise fear and anxiety for local residents. We will be visiting the area when we have proper information.”
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 2.10pm today, officers responded to reports of a serious assault in the Thornton Street North area of Manchester.
“A man was subsequently taken to hospital with serious injuries. A scene is in place and enquiries are ongoing.”
