PRINCETON, W.Va. – An annual event that honors veterans will return for the 10th year.
Hundreds of veterans are invited to Lifeline Church in Princeton this Saturday, November 2 for breakfast, fellowship, and a big community thank you in the form of a food and item distribution.
This event started as just a breakfast and has grown over the years with more organizations and businesses getting involved to show veterans their appreciation.
Event organizer Omar J. Aboulhosn says the event is successful because of volunteers and organizations like the Veteran Affairs, Operation Compassion of Mercer County, Disabled Veterans National Foundation, Operation Gratitude, Soldiers Angels, and local businesses and organizations.
“It was an opportunity for us to say thank you to veterans and their families for the service that they gave to this country,” said Aboulhosn “We live in the greatest country on earth and it’s because of what our veterans have done, what they have done to protect our freedoms. This is our opportunity to say thank you.”
Gates into Lifeline Church will open at 7:30 a.m. A ceremony will be held from 9 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. After the ceremony there will be a breakfast held for the veterans and their families. Following the breakfast, a group of 200 volunteers will be waiting for veterans to go through the distribution line.
Aboulhosn also says if anyone would like to volunteer to be at the event at 7:30 a.m.
