To coincide with the clocks changing, the Steamship Trust at Loch Katrine has launched its winter daily cruise sailing schedule and special festive events programme.

The move is part of a push to develop the popular Trossachs attraction as an all-year-round destination.

The 45-minute Winter Wonderland sailings depart Trossachs Pier daily at 10am, 11am, noon, 1pm and 2pm on either Lady of the Lake or Rob Roy III.

The historic Steamship Sir Walter Scott will also sail on selected days. She is coming out of her winter break for special cruises, including The Spirit of Christmas, which sails on November 9, 13 and 19, and December 5 and 10. The 60-minute sailing includes mulled wine and mince pies, with carol singers on board.

As Christmas approaches, Santa will visit Loch Katrine for the popular Sail with Santa experience. This package includes a sail, a buffet lunch and the opportunity for children to meet Santa and receive a gift. Regular Sail with Santa experiences are available four weekends from November 30 to December 22.

The Steamship Sir Walter Scott also returns on January 1 and 2 for traditional one-hour New Year Celebration Cruises at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm. The Ian Muir band will play traditional Scottish music onboard Steamship Sir Walter Scott, and passengers will be welcome in the New Year with a complimentary drink and shortbread.

James Fraser, CEO and Lead Trustee of the Steamship Trust, says Loch Katrine is becoming an increasingly popular year-round destination.

“The seasonal changing colours of Trossachs landscapes that can be viewed on sailings at this time of year are spectacular, which is why we offer cruises in these months and for many visitors and residents, our Santa and New Year cruises are a traditional part of their family holiday celebrations.

“We are also gearing up to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Steamship Sir Walter Scott sailing on Loch Katrine in 2025, and a programme of special events is planned to mark this historic achievement.”

More details on the events are available at www.lochkatrine.com . Bookings for most of the sailings and events can be made online or by calling 01877 376315. The new Birthplace of Scottish Tourism Scenic Tower opened in August and will remain open all year.
