East Kilbride Civic Centre is on the market with offers being invited for the former headquarters of East Kilbride District Council.
The 146,362 sq ft land at Andrew Street is now on the market – advertised as a commercial property for sale.
Edinburgh-based letting agents, Avison Young, told Lanarkshire Live the site, which currently contains existing South Lanarkshire Council premises including office and administrative buildings, the Ballerup Hall and the former East Kilbride District Court accommodation, is currently open to offers.
Located within East Kilbride town centre, at a prominent site immediately north of EK, East Kilbride Shopping Centre, the site extends to around 3.36 acres and has new build or refurbishment development potential.
There is an opportunity for a range of uses including residential, hospitality, retail, community, and commercial.
This is the latest development in the bold new masterplan for EK town centre which includes the creation of around 400 new homes, reducing retail space to open other opportunities, creating green and community spaces and improving transport links.
A council spokesman said: “The Civic Centre site in East Kilbride is currently on the market. This is in line with an approach reported to the council’s Executive Committee on January 24, 2024 and was covered in discussions as part of the public consultation on the East Kilbride Town Centre masterplan, which includes outline proposals for a new civic hub.
“An update paper will be reported to the committee in the coming months.”
