Fenwick Primary kicked off its 150th anniversary celebrations in style.

The school will mark the milestone with a series of events over the course of the year in conjunction with the parent council.

To start celebrations, parents and carers were at the school in the morning on Friday, October 11 where P7s opened the event and presented a full history class on Fenwick Primary through the years, with each P7 class performing a song afterwards.

The school also invited former students, staff members, including head teachers, as well as local community to come and look at photos from Fenwick Primary’s 150th year history.

In the afternoon, tea and coffee along with cupcakes were served and everyone had the chance to chat and have a look at the displays of old photos and memorabilia, including log books and trophies, from the past 150 years.

Fenwick Primary Head Teacher, Jamie Houston said: “This year is very special for Fenwick Primary, and the whole community, as we celebrate our 150th anniversary. With our Parent Council, we are planning celebration events throughout the year, so this event was the first of many!

“It was wonderful to welcome our parents and carers in the morning for a history lesson and performance by the children, and in the afternoon members of the community, former staff members and former pupils joined together to share memories and achievements of their days at the school.
