Jake Paul has declared he’s prepared for a ‘war’ with ex-heavyweight world champ Mike Tyson, responding to footage of the 58 year old knocking down his sparring partner in training.

‘Iron Mike’ recently shared a video on social media showing him flooring his sparring partner with a powerful left hook to the body. Following the punch, the clip shows his coach, Rafael Cordeiro, calling time on the session, remarking: “That was good for today.” An energised Tyson responded: “You sure? You f****** sure? ! ” He then proclaimed “I’ve got a lot in me” and sent a message to ‘The Problem Child’: “I’m just getting started.”

Tyson has been secretive about his training regime for the upcoming bout, but as the fight date draws closer, he has begun sharing snippets of his training on social media. The match-up between Paul and Tyson is set for November 15. They were initially slated to face off earlier this year, but Tyson had to withdraw from the original date due to an ulcer flare-up, reports the Mirror.

Concerns have been raised over Tyson’s wellbeing for the next month’s clash, yet the recent sparring videos have impressed fans, showcasing the 58 year old’s fitness. Following the viral spread of his training clips, Paul has now addressed the former heavyweight boxing world champion’s form.

In a chat with TODAY, ‘The Problem Child’ shared his confidence about the upcoming bout: “Tyson’s dropping people in sparring. He looks in the best shape and the strongest he’s ever been, his coaches are saying. I know on November 15, it’s going to be a war. But I just plan on outboxing him and showing the world what I’m capable of and coming alive in the moment and knocking out one of the best to ever do it”.

Amidst the buzz surrounding the heavyweight clash, Paul has faced scepticism for accepting the fight. The young American addressed the doubters once more, saying, “A lot of people are wondering ‘Jake, why are you doing this? Even if you beat him, they’re going to say he’s old’. But to me, Mike Tyson wanted to fight me”.

He expressed his reverence for the boxing legend, adding, “That is an honour. He’s one of the most famous boxers in the world to ever do it. To step in there with someone of his nature is an honour and a dream come true. It’s going to be a spectacle on Netflix”.
