A search was underway on Tuesday for the estranged husband of a woman who was found fatally stabbed inside a garage at her home in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.
Ivelisse Lugo was last seen alive on Saturday around 8:15 a.m. and reported missing by her daughter the same day, prompting police to visit her home on the 5900 block of Elsinore Street in the city’s Crescentville section, according to CBS Philadelphia.
When they returned the following day to check in, officers discovered Lugo’s body wrapped up in a blanket and towel in the home’s garage.
Police said she was stabbed in the back, and she was pronounced dead on the scene.
Prior to the discovery, authorities suspected that Lugo may have been in the company of Miguel Aguilar. He has since been named a person of interest and is wanted for questioning in connection with Lugo’s death. He drives a 2006 Chevrolet Express cargo van, with a cross on the rear door and Pennsylvania tag number ZRR-4023.
Police have asked the residents keep an eye out for the vehicle, urging them to reach out to law enforcement should they spot the Aguilar or his van. They are offering a $20,000 reward for information that results in an arrest and conviction.
While authorities have not specified the relationship between Lugo and Aguilar, family members told NBC Philadelphia they’d been married for five years.
No arrests have yet been made and authorities have not yet found the murder weapon. A motive was also unclear.
