It’s a Hotline the day after Rangers released their financials. Do we need to say more, or shall we just get into it?

Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: “What an utter mess Rangers Football Club are in. The SFA needs to step before they drag the name of Scottish football through the dirt again. If they are £17million in the red for the season then how are they meeting financial fair play regulations? It’s a good job Aberdeen have retaken their place in Scotland’s top two as our third top club in heading in only one direction.”

Gers fan Drew Ferguson, Oban, was feeling it as he said: “Rangers fans will need to get used to the idea that we are now a project team and it will take years and many transfer windows to get back to a higher level of performance whilst developing younger players to sell on for profit. This year’s £17million loss shows the incompetence of the current Rangers regime.”

And it was a Hallowe’en themed call from Neil Renton, Leith, who said: “Rangers financial reports make scary reading at any time of the year and not just at Hallowe’en. I wonder how long it’ll be before they end up reappearing as another brand new club and starting all over again in the bottom tier of Scottish football. They’ll end up coming back from the dead more times than Freddy Krueger.”

Onto the actual football and Rangers take on Aberdeen tonight, looking to eat into the lead from the runaway top two. But Sam Morton, Edinburgh, isn’t having the Dons as genuine contenders. He said: “It’s great to see Aberdeen atop the table alongside Celtic but truth be told they don’t look a much better team than the likes of Hibs and Hearts. Their last five league wins have all been by a single goal and all of the fine margins are going the Dons’ way, like missed penalties, sendings-off for their opponents and late goals for the Dons. This sadly won’t keep happening across a 38 game season and I predict they will finish third at best and at least 20 points behind Celtic.”

Rangers fan Alan Flett had Celtic on his mind as he said: “I don’t quite understand why Celtic fans have got the idea that they’ve been accused of playing anti football. All that we Rangers fans have said is that you’re hopeless in Europe and the fact that you’re celebrating a draw vs Atalanta proves that.”

Over in the capital, John Scott, Grassmoor, said: “Can Hearts fans give us peace? They left Easter Road on Sunday celebrating like they’d won the Champions League. It seems lost on them that they dropped two points to the limpest Hibs team I’ve seen in decades. I mean given the money they’ve poured into their club they should be flying in the top half of the table. They ain’t. As for Lawrence Shankland being invisible? He sure wont be come January, when he’s paraded in Rangers colours. Confusing for some Hearts supporters no doubt given their recent choice of flags.”

Scotland women moved to within one tie of Euro qualification last night with a 4-0 win over Hungary. They play Finland next month but the choice of venue, Easter Road, caught the eye of Scott Gowers from Edinburgh. He said: “A huge well done to Scotland women, firstly the win and secondly scoring in one match as many as Hibs have scored in four matches at Easter Road, Scotland even kept a clean sheet. David Gray must be thinking about signing some of these women as they won’t Hibs it at Easter Road as was shown, unfortunately for Hibs, who Hibsed it against Hearts (again).

But it was a sincere shout from Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, who said: “Scotland’s Women reached the Euro 2025 play-off final against Finland and showed they were Hungrier than the men when it comes to getting to finals. Well done ladies and hopefully qualify for the Euros!”
