Scott McTominay has been given a new affectionate nickname by Napoli fans as he goes from strength to strength in Serie A.
And a new video clip from his latest masterclass against AC Milan showed just why he’s been dubbed ‘McTotally.’ There’s a revolution brewing in Naples as they went seven points clear at the top of the league last night with a convincing victory over Milan.
With Stanislav Lobotka injured, Billy Gilmour slotted into midfield again alongside McTominay and the Tartan pair ran the show. In this instance it was the former Chelsea star, who has had a slightly slower start to life in Italy, who stood out like a sore thumb – and was given a big emotional hug by boss Antonio Conte for his efforts. But that’s not to say there was a lack of love for McSauce – or ‘McTotally’ as he’s now known by his new fans.
His new moniker refers to his all non-stop running and ability both on and off the ball. He’s viewed as a man who can literally do it all – something Scotland fans would have told you for free a while ago.
A clip shared on Serie A’s socials showed him in full flow, taking the ball on the half-way line before skinning Samuel Chukwueze and driving up the pitch. The faces on the Milan players, gurning in effort and disbelief as they try to keep up with him, say it all.
Just as you think it’s over, he drops a nutmeg on Yunus Musah, then wins a free-kick for the most blatant shirt-pull in football history. Stop, Scott, they’re already dead.
