A sex toy thief who knocked a rival out cold and left him scarred for life during a street bust-up has been ordered to pay his victim £1,200 compensation. Jason Sturrock assaulted Colin Stewart in the Perthshire town of Alyth and punched him on the head after a run-in during a drinking session.
Mr Stewart was knocked down and lost consciousness after his head struck the pavement. He was left permanently disfigured by the attack. Sturrock, from Rattray, was also ordered to carry out the maximum 300 hours unpaid work as a direct alternative to a prison sentence.
He had been due to be sentenced for the attack previously, but had the case was delayed until Sturrock finished an unpaid work order connected to the earlier sex toy offence. The 38-year-old was ordered to carry out 225 hours unpaid work last year after creeping into a woman’s house and stealing a sex toy from her bedroom drawer.
The same court previously heard how Sturrock crept into a former partner’s home through her kitchen window and made off with a sex toy. He clambered into the Inchture property when he knew it was empty and texted his ex while he roamed around inside, accusing her of being in a new relationship.
He admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive way and was told his bizarre behaviour would have been “upsetting and distressing” for his victim. Fiscal depute Stephanie Paterson said: “She left a downstairs window open by only an inch or two, to allow adequate air in for the dog.
“The complainer received a text message from the accused, saying that he was in the house and that he had gone in through the window. She received more texts from him, some accusing her of having an affair. When she returned home, she confirmed that the item was no longer at the house.”
