BECKLEY, W.Va. – The Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney said a 22-year-old pleaded guilty to a September crime involving a fight with a deputy.

According to the Prosecuting Attorney, on Sept. 24, Corporal Hedinger with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department responded to a breaking and entering call in Indian Creek. When Hedinger arrived, they saw 22-year-old Dawton Wade Mullins leaving in a red vehicle.

Mullins had active arrest warrants, and Hedinger stopped the vehicle.

When the officer tried to arrest Mullins, Mullins resisted and a brief fight took place before the deputy was able to restrain Mullins, according to the Prosecuting Attorney.

The Prosecuting Attorney said several possible illegal substances were found in the vehicle as well as a large amount of scales and cash. A firearm was also found in the vehicle.

Mullins will be sentenced in December for Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance, which is punishable by two to ten years in prison.
