MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. -Parts of Glenwood Park were left badly damaged from Hurricane Helene’s remnants, leaving multiple buildings and shelters unusable.

Several trees fell during the storm and still remain on the property, but now Mercer County is partnering with the USDA Forest Service to harvest that lumber and rebuild what was lost.

The president of the Mercer County Commission thinks this partnership will be helpful in quickly getting the park fully back up and running.

“It’s a really a benefit to us to be able to partner with them and to be able to do this, to provide the wood that we need in order to restore the structures that were destroyed by the hurricane,” said Bill Archer.

Archer continues with he’s hoping to have the lumber ready for construction in the spring.

We’ll continue to follow developments here.
