Locals have reported a series of Halloween decoration thefts in the area. Indeed, the pair in the clip held several bags and one was carrying a pumpkin.

The homeowner told Edinburgh Live: “They stole a wreath from my door that my mum had gifted me that I then decorated myself. I added ribbons and took time to customise it.

“I was sad, I was really proud of it. That was my only decoration this year. So they took my only thing, which makes it more sad. I take great pride in my front door and garden.

“I was also sad for my mum because she was excited to give me it. I felt worried about telling her because she was excited to see it on the door.”

The homeowner said she was “gutted” but acknowledged that the theft bothered her less than the “violation” itself, saying “It’s only a silly decoration at the end of the day.

“But it’s more the violation that somebody was plotting on my front doorstep while I was inside asleep. It kind of feels gross.” The homeowner claimed her neighbours were targeted as well.

And she said other homes having more stolen and even “decorations made by their children.” She added: “They were obviously dressed to go out to steal things.

“They had bags with them, they were dressed for the weather. I thought, ‘What are you doing?’ It’s Sunday, it’s 4am. Part of me felt sorry for them.”
