When do you put your Christmas tree up? It’s a tradition that everyone seems to do differently.

While some erect their festive firs as soon as spooky season is over, this isn’t the traditional way to do things. Tradition states that Christmas trees should be put up at the beginning of Advent, which begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas.

Although it falls on Sunday, December 1 this year, some have been getting their decorations down from the attic early. And one woman doesn’t care if people judge her for it!

TikTok creator Amy, who posts under username @twinmama_plus2, asked people when they were planning on putting their Christmas trees up – and the reactions were varied.

She said: “When is everyone putting their Christmas tree up this year? So, normally, we put ours up towards the end of November, and by Boxing Day, I want everything down and gone because I’ve had enough of it. So, I think this year, I actually might put it up mid-November and plan to take it down on the 27th so that Boxing Day is out of the way, 27th comes, everything’s gone and put away.”

Amy made a good point – getting your tree up early does give you enough time to enjoy it. And others said they would follow her lead.

While someone said that they were planning on putting their tree up on “1st November”, another replied: “Same!! My little one’s bday is 27th November and he’s only 4! He LOVES XMAS! Don’t care what people say do what you/family happy”.

One person even admitted that they did theirs “yesterday”, before Halloween. Another said: “I put mine up today lol it’s me and my little girls first Christmas moved out so I want to make the most of it. Amy replied: “Aww amazing. I don’t blame you. Make it all magical. Have the best Christmas together!”

If there’s one thing many agree on, it’s when to take their decs down. common guideline is to remove it after the Twelve Days of Christmas, which ends on January 5th (the eve of Epiphany), or on January 6th (Epiphany itself).

This marks the official end of Yuletide in many Christian traditions. Some even consider it bad luck to keep festive decorations in the home past January.
