Two 15-year-old boys have been charged in connection with “a shockingly unprovoked and random attack” on a busy Scots street, which left a man and woman requiring medical treatment.
The incident took place on Monday October 28. Officers at the time confirmed that a 50-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were at the pedestrian crossing at Leith Street and Princes Street junction, Edinburgh, around 10pm when they were approached by a group of people, assaulted and robbed.
The group included three males and a female aged between 14 and 20-years-old. The suspects made off towards St James Quarter and Multrees Walk. The man and woman were both taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for medical treatment.
Two 15-year-old males have been charged and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the serious assault and robbery.
It was described by Detective Sergeant Steven Gray of CID as “a shockingly unprovoked and random attack, which left the victims requiring medical treatment”.
Officers are continuing further lines of enquiry in relation to the incident. Detective Sergeant Steven Gray said: “We would like to thank the numerous members of the public who have assisted our investigation so far and continue to appeal for information, as enquiries remain ongoing.
