Two people have been charged after a dog allegedly mauled a child in Glasgow. A 10-year-old girl was allegedly attacked on Maukinfauld Road, Parkhead, around 3pm on Wednesday, October 30.

She was rushed to hospital to be treated for her injuries. The schoolgirl was later released.

Police launched a probe into the incident and, on Thursday morning, the force confirmed that a 52-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman had been charged in connection. The dog has since been put down.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Wednesday, October 30, we received a report of a dog having attacked a ten-year-old girl on Maukinfauld Road, Glasgow. She was taken to hospital and released after treatment.

“A 52-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman have been charged in connection with this incident. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The dog was euthanised following this incident.”
