A man seated in a parked vehicle in Suffolk County was stabbed Thursday afternoon by a suspect “wearing a Halloween mask,” officials confirmed to the Daily News.

The incident happened just after 4 pm in Central Islip.

The victim was in the driver’s seat of a car parked outside Hands Across Long Island, the state’s largest peer-run mental health organization, when a suspect approached the vehicle, opened the driver’s side door and stabbed him with a knife.

The man, who hasn’t been named, was rushed to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to a Suffolk County Police spokesperson. His condition wasn’t immediately clear.

The suspect fled the scene. He remained at large as of Friday afternoon, Suffolk County Police said.

Detectives are now urging anyone with information to contact Suffolk County Police’s Third Squad at 631-854-8352. Those who wish to remain anonymous are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
