The UK government has issued a fresh travel advisory list with 19 nations marked ‘do not travel’ to reflect the latest safety concerns across the world.

The UK Foreign Office regularly updates the list of destinations Brits should steer clear of or only travel to for essential reasons.

Currently it deems 226 countries or areas unsafe due to security issues, health risks or legal differences with the UK, with travellers warned not to enter 19 nations for any reason.

Among countries the FCDO now advises against all travel to is Lebanon, where hostilities with Israel have heightened in recent weeks.

‘On 1 October, Iran launched around 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. On 26 October, Israel carried out military action against Iran. Monitor this travel advice and other media as the situation is changing fast,’ the FCDO says.

People who travel against FCDO advice may not be covered by insurance and if there is an emergency they could struggle to access the consular support otherwise available to them.

Here are all the countries and territories the FCDO advises against travel to and those one should only travel to if essential.
