Shocking footage has emerged of a vehicle ploughing into a costumed crowd at a Halloween event in California.
Videos released on social media show a Halloween night celebration in Anaheim, California, devolving into chaos when a black car slammed into a crowd of people. One video released on X, formerly Twitter, shows smoke rising from the ground as the car sped towards the crowd at what looks to be an outdoor fancy dress event, reports the Mirror.
The car was one of many seen in videos shared on the site on Thursday night, with others showing other autos, one green, speeding along an open street in the US city. The cars can be seen skidding and “drifting” on the road as they do donuts around the densely packed area before calamity strikes.
One horrifying video showed the black automobile skidding to a halt and drifting sideways before catching several individuals in its momentum and dragging them along. A guy can be heard crying “oh no, oh no, no, no” as many others come to their rescue, including one man dressed in a Winnie the Pooh costume who is seen frantically dashing forward.
The car then attempts to accelerate away, rolling over two people and appears to pin one of them to the ground, before the remaining throng descends and begins bashing the vehicle’s chassis. One person in the crowd can be heard saying, “There’s still a guy under it, bro. There’s still a guy under it.”
As they shout at the driver, two individuals climb onto the car and begin attempting to smash the roof, before the video abruptly ends. Additional video footage released on the social media site shows the aftermath of the terrible incident, with a large police presence arriving on the scene.
One video shows cops casually assessing the shattered car’s wreckage while a police cordon is formed around the scene. While the car looks to be nearly damaged, no one else is on the scene, and other vehicles can be seen leaving the area. Police have confirmed that.
A spokesperson for Anaheim Police confirmed the “street racing” incident took place at Orangewood and State college Blvd at around 2am on Friday, with the race taking over an intersection before two 19-year-old pedestrians – from Orange and Lancaster Counties – were hit by a car. Both were taken to hospital and are in a “stable condition at this time”.
No one has been taken into custody as of Friday, November 1.
