A man has been charged in connection with an alleged dog attack in Kinross that saw one pet killed and a woman injured.

Two other dogs suffered injuries and required vet treatment during the incident on the afternoon of Sunday, October 20.

Police were scrambled to High Street and Burns Begg Street in the town centre after reports of three dogs attacking four others.

Officers were then seen in riot gear surrounding a house between Mill Street car park and Burns Begg Street, with at least nine police vehicles in attendance.

One dog, reportedly a Lhasa Apso, died following the alleged attack and two were injured. A woman also needed treatment for minor injuries.

Witnesses claimed the woman was walking down the street when the dogs pounced and went to attack other pets.

Police have now confirmed that a 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with offences under the Dangerous Dog Act following an investigation.

A dog owner whose pooch was allegedly attacked said that his 10-year-old female Pointer suffered serious injuries, including 10 lacerations to her head and body.

The incident sent shockwaves through the small community and a Gofundme page was set up to support the vet bills and a cremation for the deceased dog.
