PRINCETON, W.Va. – Thousands of trick-or-treaters made their way down Mercer Street this Halloween night to collect candy from local businesses and organizations.
The Mercer Monster Mash has been returning to Princeton’s Grassroots District for 12 years.
Along with trick-or-treating the event also held a costume contest, fire spinning performance, and Ghost Hunt at Princeton Public Library.
There was also expert-level Jack o’ lanterns from an award-winning pumpkin carver who has been featured on the Food Network.
Event organizer Lori McKinney says this event is great for the community to get together to create life-long memories.
“Especially as you’re growing up in an area like this, it’s important to have really dynamic experiences that make you feel a pride of place and happy about where you live,” said McKinney.
McKinney says the event has grown from hundreds of visitors to thousands since the event began in 2013.
